Introduction to Pilates (with dyna bands)

13th - 15th May 2011

with Gordon Thomson and Ellie Ioannidou of Pilates Body Europe,
and Nordic Walking with Tatiana Novaes of Totumfitness.com

World-renowned Pilates practitioner Gordon Thomson will be at Tresillian House in May 2011 hosting a two-day residential introduction to the discipline.

Gordon will be using his specialist teaching method - Pilates Body Europe - to make the exercises accessible and beneficial to beginners and intermediate students. He will be assisted by Ellie Ioannidou, co-founder with Gordon of the Pilates Body Europe Studios in South Kensington.

Pilates in an exercise method designed to elongate, strengthen and restore the body to balance. This weekend course will introduce the eight basic principles of Pilates, which are:

  • relaxation
  • centring
  • concentrating
  • co-ordination
  • alignment
  • flowing movement
  • breathing
  • stamina
  • Gordon is one of the founders of Pilates Body Europe, a method of teaching that gently prepares the body for the full series of exercises by breaking down each one into four, five or six movements.

He also uses dyna bands in his teaching - a training aid that tones, strengthens and conditions the entire body, is recommended by leading physiotherapists for rehabilitation and is used by top aerobics instructors to improve strength and fitness.

The holistic approach of Pilates sets it apart from many other forms of exercise. Osteopaths, physiotherapists and GPs recommend Pilates as one of the safest form of exercise, one that is beneficial to just about everyone - from first time exercisers to highly-trained atheletes and dancers.

The two-day course costs £350. This includes accommodation in double rooms, all meals and Pilates tuition and a workshop tbc. Rates are reduced if sharing. For all enquiries, please contact Caroline Robinson on:
